The history of Rêve de Bakara goes back almost three decades ago, to the early 90’s when plots in the valley of Vaudecorce, north of Chichée, were identified for potential purchase.
The plots had previously been cultivated as vineyards but had been let go earlier in the century. They came with an excellent reputation but the land had run wild, with trees and deer when it was first seen. After purchase, the necessary permits to plant were obtained and the land cleared, regraded and prepared for planting.
Six different clones of Chardonnay grape were finally planted in 1999 and the first harvest occurred in 2002, enabling us to see for the first time in ten years the true quality of the land and results in a wine glass. A happy moment indeed.
